Jack Lohman is the Director of the Museum of London and Professor at the National Academy of Art in Bergen, Norway. He is also Chairman of the Board of the National Museum in Warsaw. He is a huge enthusiast for Polish museums and cultural heritage. For over thirty years he has traveled across the length and breadth of Poland discovering its treasures and often speaks about them. Professor Lohman strongly recommends the national Museum in Warsaw and the ‘best place to get a grounding in Polish history, culture and traditions’ but reminds all visitors not to miss the unique archaeological collection from Faras in the Sudan. He also believes that every visitor to Poland should head north rather than south; ‘aim for Gdansk, which combines strong doses of contemporary history in an absolutely magical golden age of the Hansa setting’; ‘I fell in love with Poland as a child and cannot shake my fascination for its art, architecture and heritage’.
Born in London of Polish parents, Professor Lohman was educated at the Freien Universitat in Berlin and the University of Warsaw. He speaks Polish fluently.
